The Urbandale Food Pantry welcomes everyone who needs food assistance. You don't have to live in Urbandale, and you don't need to show proof of income.
Clive Community Services
Who Can Visit?
Clive Community Services is open to anyone who needs food. There are no income requirements and no residency limits - this is what they call a no-boundaries pantry. A photo ID is required for the adult coming in to receive food. USDA foods are available for eligible clients without a photo ID, and the Anytime Room can be visited without any ID at all.
Items Needed for Registration
Bring a photo ID for the adult presenting themselves for service. Accepted forms include a government-issued picture ID (foreign or domestic), passport, social security card, school ID, Title 19 card, medical card, health insurance card, birth certificate, court document, or a document from the state of Iowa or Polk County Human Services. Bringing some form of ID for all other household members is helpful but not required.
How Often You Can Visit?
Clive Community Services is part of the DMARC network of food pantries. Through DMARC, you can shop at any network pantry once a month for a three-day supply of food. If you need more food during the month, you're welcome to visit other DMARC pantry locations. On days when you're not receiving your monthly DMARC order, you can also shop from the Anytime Room for a limited supply of extra food.
Good to Know
Each DMARC pantry visit provides a three-day supply of food based on your household size. Fresh produce and meat are available, though the selection varies by day. If a quieter environment would support your visit, for example if you're a parent of a child with special needs like autism, Down syndrome, or other sensory or developmental differences, you can email the Director at director@clivecommunityservices.com to schedule a private, low-sensory shopping appointment.
Food & Essentials
The pantry provides a three-day supply of nutritionally balanced groceries sized to your household. Fresh produce and meat are regularly available, though the selection changes. Visitors have also received items like milk, eggs, pasta, bread, and fresh fruit. Personal care items and household cleaning supplies are available to shop for once a month as well, with selection varying. The Anytime Room, stocked entirely by community donations, offers an additional limited supply of food on days you're not picking up your monthly DMARC order.
How to Pick Up
Clients shop the pantry themselves, choosing the items they'd like. The amount you can take is based on your household size.

Ways to Give
The pantry welcomes food donations of canned and shelf-stable goods (up to one year past expiration, as long as they're sealed and in good condition), as well as fresh, refrigerated, and frozen foods. Household items are also needed, including toiletries (shampoo, soap, lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, razors, shaving cream, sanitary pads, hand soap, and sunscreen), toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, baby items (diapers in sizes 5, 6, and 7 are most requested, along with wipes, baby food, formula, and baby shampoo), laundry detergent, dish soap, and household cleaning supplies. Donations of gently used or new, seasonally appropriate clothing, accessories, and shoes are also appreciated.
Donations are accepted at the building Monday 9:30 AM-7:00 PM, Wednesday 9:30 AM-2:30 PM, and Friday 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. Non-perishable items can also be dropped off at collection boxes located around Clive. If those hours don't work, email director@clivecommunityservices.com to arrange another time. To give online, visit the donation page. Donations are tax-deductible under their 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
