Call 913-671-2315 during the phone hours listed above to schedule your first appointment. One person per family will be allowed to shop per visit.
Good to Know
Volunteers assist each person one-on-one from the moment you walk in the door. Visitors can expect fresh produce, meat, dairy, bread, and shelf-stable items, along with the chance to shop the Clothes Closet and pick up personal care products all in the same visit. Reviewers mention that flowers are often available as well. One long-time visitor shared that they have been coming for five to six years and would not go anywhere else because the people are always kind, friendly, and caring.
Food & Essentials
The pantry offers a wide variety of food and grocery items. Fresh produce, bread, dairy products, and meat are donated from local grocery stores and supplemented with purchases of almost 250,000 pounds of food per year. Shelf-stable goods are also available. Reviewers describe the food as possibly the best from any pantry, listing fresh vegetables, meat, cheese, milk, bread, snacks, and canned items like chicken noodle soup, navy beans, and chili. In addition to food, a selection of personal hygiene items and household cleaning products are available for visitors to choose.
How to Pick Up
This pantry works as a client-choice shopping experience. Visitors shop for their own items within guidelines based on household size. A personal volunteer is assigned to help each shopper during the visit. Reviewers also note that volunteers load groceries into your car when you are ready to go.
Facilities
The Clothes Closet offers gently used and new clothing for all ages at no cost when you visit the pantry. A variety of household goods, including linens, dishes, small appliances, and books, are also available for free. Fresh flowers are frequently available as a bonus.
Ways to Give
Monetary donations to the Food Pantry help buy food, as the pantry purchases close to 250,000 pounds of food each year in addition to donations. You can give online at https://ppay.co/0h885Oue3jY and designate your gift to the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet fund. Food and clothing donations are accepted as well. The pantry also welcomes donated goods such as clothing, linens, dishes, and household items for the Clothes Closet.
