Who Can Visit?

Anyone who's in dire need of food or can't afford groceries on a regular basis is welcome. You'll need to call ahead before your first visit to register for food access services.

Food & Essentials

Visitors receive fresh produce along with non-perishable staples like cereal, rice, and canned tomatoes. Additional items are available depending on current inventory.

Additional Support

This ABCD location offers a wide range of services beyond food:

  • SNAP/Food Stamps help: Walk-in assistance is available to help you complete and submit a SNAP application. Staff will guide you through the process, usually in about an hour. Call your nearest ABCD site for details on what documents to bring.
  • Tax preparation: Free tax preparation is available by appointment for eligible households.
  • Cooking classes: Cooking classes have been offered at this location.
  • Fuel assistance: Help with energy and heating costs is available for eligible residents.
  • Pet support: Some assistance for pets has been available at this location.
  • Holiday meals: From mid-November through the end of December, ABCD provides food baskets, turkeys, and holiday meal supplies for pickup. Call 617.348.6767 or email holidays@bostonabcd.org for more information.
  • Referrals: Staff can connect you with long-term support services to help you and your family get beyond immediate food emergencies.

To donate by check, mail to Action for Boston Community Development, Inc., 178 Tremont Street, Boston, MA 02111. In-kind donations are also welcome, including food, winter coats, boots, warm socks, household supplies, and gift cards to major retailers.
