Who Can Visit?

Watertown Community Fridge is open to everyone in the community. There are no income limits, address restrictions, or registration requirements. You don't need to bring any ID or documents. Just come and take what you need.

Good to Know

The fridge is located at the back of the Watertown Free Public Library building at 123 Main St, right next to the parking lot. It's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The fridge can sometimes be empty, but volunteers pick up donations from local businesses about three days a week, and coordinators do weekly grocery runs to keep it stocked. If you see a box of individually wrapped items, feel free to take just what you need out of the box so more neighbors can benefit.

Food & Essentials

The fridge holds fresh produce, bread and baked goods, and raw meat and seafood. The freezer carries frozen and packaged produce, as well as extra baked goods when the fridge is full. The pantry shelf has canned goods, boxed foods, and shelf-stable items. Non-food items are also available, including diapers, baby wipes, menstrual products, and cleaning supplies. Pet food is kept on the floor, separate from human food.

How to Pick Up

Watertown Community Fridge is a self-serve community fridge. Walk up, open the fridge or pantry, and take what you need. There's no check-in, no paperwork, and no staff interaction required. It's accessible any time, day or night.

Ways to Give

The fridge accepts food and monetary donations. Donated food must be fresh, unopened, and labeled with an expiration date. Prepared meals should be individually packaged and labeled with the ingredients, the date made, and an estimated expiration date. Raw meat, poultry, and seafood must be securely packaged for the freezer. New, unopened personal care items like diapers, baby wipes, menstrual products, and cleaning supplies are also welcome. To donate money, send it on Venmo at @WatertownCommunityFridge, or mail a check payable to Watertown Community Fridge to Nancy Dutton, Treasurer, 198 Bellevue Rd, Watertown MA 02472.
