Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry
Who Can Visit?
The Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry serves everyone who lives in St. Louis County, no matter their age, race, religion, ethnicity, ability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Visits are by appointment only.
How to Schedule an Appointment?
You can book your appointment in one of three ways:
- Call 314-513-1672 and a JFS representative will help you set up a time.
- Email foodpantryappointments@jfsstl.org with three preferred date and time options and you'll get a confirmation email back.
- Schedule your next visit in person at the end of your current monthly appointment.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can visit once per month.
Good to Know
Each visit provides at least seven to ten days' worth of food. Appointments are available Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Arrive no more than 15 minutes past your appointment time, or you'll be treated as a walk-in and will need to wait. Reviewers suggest arriving on time and keeping your ID ready from the moment you walk in.
The pantry may be closed on certain holidays, including:
- Passover
- Shavuot
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day Observed
- Labor Day
- Yom Kippur
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Before visiting on or around a holiday, it's worth checking their website or giving them a call to confirm they're open.
Food & Essentials
The pantry offers fresh fruits and vegetables, protein-rich foods, dairy items like milk, frozen meats, breads, and a wide variety of shelf-stable goods. Kosher options are available. The selection changes from visit to visit based on donations, and has included items like watermelon, snacks, walnuts, and sweet treats. Pet food for dogs and cats is sometimes available too.
How to Pick Up
This is a client-choice pantry. A volunteer walks with you through the pantry and tells you what's available so you can pick the specific items you want, including produce, fruit, refrigerated foods, and frozen items. You can hold them and check them before choosing. If you'd rather not shop yourself, a volunteer can choose for you. Walk-in visitors are typically shopped for by a volunteer. Once you're done, your cart will be brought to a side door where you can pull your vehicle up to load it.
Additional Support
JFS, which operates this pantry, offers many other programs, including mental health counseling, child and adolescent learning and behavioral evaluations, psychiatry for children and teens, older adult services, elder care coordination through ElderLink, a chaplaincy program, and the Care Connect service. Referrals to other community resources are also available.
