Who Can Visit?

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Archdiocesan Council of St. Louis serves anyone in need in the St. Louis region, with no distinction in who they help. Assistance is delivered through local Conferences, which are neighborhood-level volunteer groups that meet with people face-to-face. To connect with the Conference closest to your home and request help with food, clothing, shelter, medicine, or other needs, use the Request Help finder on their website.

Additional Support

Beyond food, the Society helps with a wide range of everyday and emergency needs, including clothing, shelter, medicine, and utility bills. One reviewer shared that the organization paid their entire light bill when they called for help.

The Credit Empowerment Program is available for people stuck in high-interest payday or car-title loans. If you owe between $500 and $6,000 on one of those loans, the program may convert it to a low-interest loan with lower monthly payments and include financial mentoring along the way. To find out if you qualify, contact your local St. Vincent de Paul Conference through the Request Help finder. You'll need a valid government-issued ID, and your monthly income must exceed your monthly expenses after the lower payment replaces the high-interest one. Conferences and individuals interested in the program can also email credit@svdpstl.org for training information.

Facilities

The Society runs a network of thrift stores across the St. Louis area where community members can shop for clothing, furniture, home goods, appliances, electronics, and more. You can find store locations at the store locations page. Unique and rare items are also available through their eBay store.

Ways to Give

You can make an online monetary donation at the Give page. For questions about planned giving, donating stock, or designating a life insurance policy, contact John Fitzpatrick at (314) 881-6003 or johnc@svdpstl.org.

To donate new or gently used goods, drop them off at any thrift store location during donation hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 10 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday 12 PM to 4 PM. Accepted items include clothing, shoes, accessories, kitchen items, small and major appliances, furniture, electronics, books, and more. Please note that the 1310 Papin Street office is not a donation drop-off site.

You can also schedule a free furniture pickup online at pickup.svdpstl.org or email donations@svdpstl.org. The donations call center is open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Corporate donors with excess inventory can call (314) 881-6006 Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM or Saturday 8 AM to noon.

To donate a vehicle such as a car, truck, van, boat, motorcycle, or mobile home, call 1-800-322-8284 or visit svdpusacars.org.
