Who Can Visit?

HEFC serves residents of Cleveland Heights, University Heights, South Euclid, and Lyndhurst who meet the income limits set by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The limit is 200% of the federal poverty level. Current income limits are posted at the pantry, and a PDF is available on the Greater Cleveland Food Bank's website.

Items Needed for Registration

New clients need to bring the following at their first visit:

  • Name, address, and phone number
  • Photo ID for the head of household
  • Name and birthdate for each person in the household
  • Proof of address, such as a current bill or official mail (a driver's license doesn't meet this requirement)

Returning clients need a photo ID at every visit. Once a year, proof of address is also required to confirm you still live in the service area.

How Often You Can Visit?

Eligible residents can visit once per calendar month.

Good to Know

The pantry is inside Disciples Christian Church at the corner of Mayfield and Yellowstone Roads, across from Severance Center. The facility is wheelchair-accessible. Visitors say the volunteers are friendly and welcoming, and that families leave with plenty of food.

Food & Essentials

HEFC provides healthy food purchased through the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Bags include both shelf-stable groceries and fresh perishable foods. The pantry also has toiletries and personal care supplies available.

How to Pick Up

After you complete paperwork at the intake desk, volunteers pack your bag with pre-selected shelf-stable items and fresh perishable foods.

Ways to Give

Monetary donations are the best way to support the pantry since funds can be used to buy food and supplies at discount prices through the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. You can donate via PayPal or mail a check payable to Heights Emergency Food Center to 3663 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights, OH 44121.

Non-perishable food and toiletry donations are also accepted under certain conditions. Please contact the pantry first to confirm your donation can be accepted, and bring it only during open hours. Reach them at 216-381-0707 or hefc@att.net.

How to Join the Team?

HEFC is fully run by volunteers. The team is currently well-staffed, but they sometimes have openings for people with a flexible schedule. Call 216-381-0707 or email hefc@att.net to ask about current needs. Groups and community service placements can't be accommodated.
