Who Can Visit?

The food pantry at First Congregational Church is open to anyone in the community who needs help. There's no registration or appointment required before your first visit. In 2024, the pantry served 13,451 guests from 38 zip codes across Shelby County.

Good to Know

The food pantry is located around the back of the church building, not at the main front entrance. Inside, the pantry is set up like a grocery store, so you can walk through the aisles and choose the items you need with help from friendly volunteers.

Food & Essentials

The pantry provides a variety of grocery items, including fresh produce, bread, and pantry goods like grocery staples. Personal care products are also available free of charge. Food is sourced in part from the Mid-South Food Bank, as well as rescued surplus groceries from local partner restaurants and grocery stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.

How to Pick Up

When you arrive, you'll shop through the pantry just like you would in a regular grocery store. Volunteers are on hand to help you find what you need and guide you through the space.

Additional Support

First Congregational Church also runs a Community Lunch program, serving hot meals on Mondays through Thursdays from 11am to 1pm. The lunch is open to anyone facing food insecurity, including those experiencing homelessness, unemployment, or illness.

Ways to Give

You can make a financial donation to support the Food Justice Ministry through the church's giving page. The church also accepts food donations and works with local restaurants and grocery stores through its Food Rescue program to collect surplus food.
