Who Can Visit?
The Elmore County Food Pantry serves families and individuals in Elmore County who are facing difficult times and in need of food assistance. Reviewers consistently note that help is available to those who qualify. The pantry is welcoming and non-judgmental — visitors say the staff makes you feel valued, not like a burden. If you'd like to visit on a Saturday, you'll need to call ahead to set up an appointment.
Good to Know
Many visitors say they receive enough food to last most or all of the month. On Thursdays and Saturdays, a volunteer counselor will spend a few minutes with you to see how you're doing and offer a word of prayer if you'd like — this is a faith-based organization that genuinely cares for every person who comes in.
Food & Essentials
The pantry stocks food sourced from the Montgomery Area Food Bank as well as local donors. The shelves carry shelf-stable items like grits, rice, pasta, cereal, and breakfast bars, along with canned goods. The pantry also has coolers and a produce area stocked with fresh items.
How to Pick Up
When you arrive, you're welcome to walk through the food area and choose your own items. Friendly volunteers called spotters are there to help you find what's available and let you know about any per-item limits posted on the shelves. If you prefer to stay in your vehicle, workers will bring your food out to you at curbside.
Additional Support
The pantry offers home delivery for those who aren't able to come in person. In a recent month, the team completed 60 home deliveries to families across Elmore County.
Facilities
There's an on-site thrift store that visitors are welcome to browse.
Ways to Give
The pantry doesn't receive funding from local, state, or federal sources and depends entirely on support from individuals, churches, organizations, and grants. You can give online via PayPal, or reach out to Jade Skinner at (334) 567-3232 or jade@elmorecountyfoodpantry.org. You can also drop off food donations in person Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 2 pm. Items most needed right now include grits, rice, pasta, cereal, and breakfast bars.
How to Join the Team?
To volunteer, email jade@elmorecountyfoodpantry.org. Open positions include counselors and spotters who work with clients on Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:30 am to 2 pm, stockers who unload trucks and prep shelves on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 am to 10:30 am, warehouse helpers who assist with unloading and freezer work, and construction volunteers for ongoing facility projects like electrical and plumbing work.
