Dunedin Cares serves residents of Dunedin, Clearwater, and Palm Harbor. You'll need a valid photo ID showing an address in one of those three communities to get food here.
Hope Villages of America Food Distribution Center
Who Can Visit?
This food distribution center is open to individuals and families who live or work in Pinellas County. No referral is needed. Just walk in during distribution hours. Most of the food has no income requirements, though a small portion of food is based on income eligibility. USDA TEFAP food is available to all Florida residents.
Items Needed for Registration
Bring a photo ID and address verification if your ID doesn't show your current address (such as a piece of mail). You'll also need Social Security cards and/or birth certificates for all household members. If it's your first visit and you don't have everything, they'll still help you and ask you to bring the missing documents next time.
How Often You Can Visit?
Once per month. You can come any time during the month.
Good to Know
No appointment is needed. The food bank is wheelchair accessible. Staff and volunteers try to accommodate dietary restrictions. During the registration process, they can connect you with referrals to other local community organizations if you have other needs.
Food and Essentials
Each visit provides around 3 to 4 days' worth of food for all household members. The pantry focuses on nutrition and tries to provide healthy, nutrient-dense foods. Items vary by visit and depend on donations, but can include fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, canned goods, bread and bakery items, frozen foods, dairy products like milk and cheese, snacks, and desserts. Pet food has also been distributed on occasion.
How to Pick Up
Distribution is drive-up. You don't need to get out of your car to receive food. The line typically moves steadily. The only item visitors may select themselves is bread. Arrive early, especially earlier in the month, as lines can be longer then.
Additional Support
Beyond food, Hope Villages of America offers housing stability services, domestic violence support through The Haven, and basic needs assistance including clothing, furniture, and energy assistance. Staff can refer you to additional services during your visit.
Facilities
The facility is clean, organized, and wheelchair accessible. There is a small indoor play area for children while they wait.
Ways to Give
You can donate money online, by check, or by mail to Hope Villages of America. The organization also accepts food donations Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the warehouse. You can host a food or fund drive for the food bank. Other ways to give include donating stock, making a memorial gift, becoming a monthly donor, or including Hope Villages in your estate plans.
How to Join the Team?
Volunteers are welcome for food distribution, abuse services, and housing stability services. Food bank volunteer roles include helping with client check-ins, assisting in the warehouse, supporting food distribution, picking up light food donations like bread, and helping with cleaning and organization. To apply, complete the online application for food bank roles, email volunteer@hopevillagesofamerica.org, or call (727) 443-4031 ext. 506.
