ECHO of Riverview (Emergency Care Help Organization)
Who Can Visit?
ECHO Riverview serves neighbors in a crisis situation who live in the following zip codes: 33534, 33547, 33569, 33570, 33572, 33573, 33578, 33579, and 33619. This includes areas like Gibsonton, Lithia, Valrico, Apollo Beach, Sun City Center, and East Tampa. Each person's situation is reviewed individually, and services are provided based on eligibility and available resources.
Items Needed for Registration
To receive assistance, you'll need to bring:
- A current photo ID (a driver's license is preferred)
- Original Social Security cards or birth certificates for every family member receiving assistance
- Current proof of address dated within the last 30 days, such as a utility bill, mail addressed to you, a copy of a current lease signed within the past 30 days, a rent receipt, or a notarized letter with matching mail to verify your address
How Often You Can Visit?
Visits must be at least four months apart from your previous visit. Neighbors who are homeless may visit once per month if needed. Neighbors who are currently enrolled in the Back to Work program or workshops are eligible for monthly food and clothing assistance.
Good to Know
The service is bilingual, available in both English and Spanish. Intakes for the Advocacy Program are limited each day and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Financial assistance is limited, not guaranteed, and not available the same day or same week.
Food & Essentials
The food pantry provides nutritious food including pantry items, frozen meat, chicken, and cheese. Reviewers mention receiving "plenty of food." The Clothing Room provides each neighbor with five outfits and one pair of shoes. Children also receive two new pairs of socks and underwear or diapers. Undergarments and socks for adults are available when in stock. Hygiene products are also available.
How to Pick Up
Neighbors visit the Riverview Resource Center in person during open hours. The space is described as organized, clean, bright, and inviting, with volunteers who help neighbors shop if requested.

ECHO Riverview offers several programs beyond food and clothing:
- Advocacy Program: Connects neighbors with local community resources for financial, housing, and other hardships. Walk-in intakes for unhoused neighbors are available Thursdays and Fridays at 9:00 AM. Walk-in intakes for financial and other assistance are available Monday through Wednesday at 9:00 AM.
- Back to Work: One-on-one job coaching that includes resume creation, job searching, interview skills, and access to an online Learning Lab. Appointments can be made through the website. Funded by Hillsborough County and Bank of America.
- Workshops: Classes on budgeting, sewing, couponing, starting a business, selling online, and more.
- During the holiday season, neighbors living in motels and hotels in the service area receive a hot Thanksgiving meal and a blessing bag.

How to Join the Team?
ECHO welcomes volunteers who can commit to a weekly schedule. Volunteer roles include working in the food pantry, clothing room, welcome center, and as advocacy resource navigators. ECHO is unable to accommodate court-ordered or recommended community service hours. Groups such as congregations, civic groups, schools, and businesses are also welcome to volunteer. Students aged 16 and older may serve at the resource centers and can count hours toward the Bright Futures Scholarship program.
