St Petersburg Free Clinic - Food Pantry / Administration
Who Can Visit?
Any Pinellas County resident in need is welcome at the We Help Services FRESH Pantry. You don't need to show proof of income or meet any other special requirement. USDA/TEFAP food is available without ID.
Items Needed for Registration
Please bring a photo ID and proof of residency showing your current Pinellas County address. For USDA/TEFAP food only, no identification is required.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can visit up to twice per month.
Good to Know
The pantry is open Monday through Thursday. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday hours are 8:30am to 3:00pm. Thursday hours run later, from 8:30am to 7:00pm, which is great if you can't make it during the day earlier in the week. The pantry is closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Visitors mention that wait times can sometimes be long, so it helps to come early and bring your own bags or a folding cart since the food is very generous.
Food & Essentials
The pantry offers fresh, nutritious produce, meats, dairy, food staples, and hygiene items all for free. Reviewers commonly report receiving milk, eggs, bread, fresh fruits and vegetables (like potatoes, onions, peppers, apples, cabbage, and carrots), frozen meats such as chicken and ground beef or turkey, canned goods, and rice. Hygiene items including feminine products are also distributed. Baby food and pet food are sometimes available as well.
How to Pick Up
The main location at 863 3rd Ave North, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 offers an indoor choice experience where you can shop the pantry much like a grocery store, with staff to guide you through departments like meats, produce, and breads. A digital waiting list lets you track your place in the queue.
A drive-thru option is also available at the 22nd Street South (Deuces) location, 2198 15th Ave South, St. Petersburg, FL 33712, open Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Volunteers will load food directly into your vehicle.
Additional Support
Beyond food, the clinic can connect you with a wide range of other services including help with utility bills, bus passes, Florida ID cards, Social Security and birth certificate assistance, and referrals to community resources. Healthcare, dental care, a prescription assistance program, and health education are also offered through the broader St. Pete Free Clinic.
Ways to Give
You can support the pantry with a financial donation at thespfc.org/donate. Other giving options include monthly giving, stock transfers, planned giving, vehicle donation (contact development@thespfc.org), and in-kind donations of food and supplies such as diapers, period products, mobile meal and hygiene kits, and medical supplies. Physical donations can be dropped off at the SPFC Community Food Bank, 2392 31st Street South, St. Pete, FL 33712, Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm. For questions, email communications@thespfc.org.
How to Join the Team?
The Gary Hess Volunteer Program welcomes volunteers for the We Help FRESH Pantry most shifts Monday through Friday, 8am to 7pm. Roles include greeting and client check-in, client intake (data entry), serving as pantry guides in departments like meats and produce, food stocking, and client advocacy (helping with needs beyond food such as identification, water bill assistance, and bus passes). Volunteers aged 16 and older are welcome in food programs; those 15 and under must be accompanied by a vetted adult volunteer. Some adult volunteers may need a background check. Court-ordered community service hours are not accepted. Apply online at betterimpact.com.
