Who Can Visit?
The EIU Campus Food Pantry is open to any member of the Panther community, including students, faculty, and staff. No questions asked. Just bring your Panther Card to check in.
Items Needed for Registration
Bring your EIU Panther Card. That's all you need.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can visit the pantry up to two times each month.
Good to Know
Each visit comes with enough food for about nine meals for one person. Food is given out individually, so roommates are welcome to visit the pantry separately to get their own food. Specialty items like eggs, milk, and meat are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may not always be in stock. You're also welcome to bring your own bags.
If the regular hours don't fit your schedule, you can request an alternative pickup time by filling out the Alternative Pickup Time form. A staff member will follow up within one to two business days to arrange a time.
Food & Essentials
The pantry stocks a wide range of shelf-stable and fresh foods. Staple items include rice, pasta, spaghetti noodles, canned chicken, canned tuna, chicken and beef ramen, Spaghetti O's, beef ravioli, canned corn, canned green beans, chicken noodle soup, tomato soup, vegetarian vegetable soup, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, and individual fruit cups like applesauce, peaches, and pears. Fresh items like bread, milk, eggs, and produce are also available when in stock. The pantry also has a toiletry section with personal care items.
How to Pick Up
When you arrive, a volunteer will swipe your Panther Card to check you in. You'll get a form listing the available staple items and a number. Check off what you'd like, then return the form to a volunteer. While your order is being packed, feel free to browse the toiletry section or ask about specialty items like eggs, milk, or meat. When your number is called, your bags are ready to pick up.
Ways to Give
You can make a tax-deductible monetary donation at the Give to the Food Pantry page. The pantry also accepts non-perishable food donations throughout the year. To schedule a time to drop off items, email volunteer@eiu.edu. Items currently most needed include rice, canned chicken, canned tuna, ramen, Spaghetti O's, beef ravioli, canned corn, green beans, soup, can openers, and jelly.
