Who Can Visit?

The Saint Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen and Food Distribution Center is open to anyone in need. The kitchen serves children, the elderly, the homeless, people with mental or physical disabilities, and the working poor. No one is turned away.

Good to Know

The soup kitchen is the only facility in the Metro East area that offers free meals every single day of the week, all year long. On average, between 200 and 300 meals are served each day.

Food & Essentials

The kitchen provides a variety of hot, nutritious meals every day. The menu changes daily, offering something different each visit. Food comes from donations by SVDP parish conferences, local stores, restaurants, caterers, farmers, and other agencies.

How to Pick Up

Guests line up for the free daily hot meal served at noon. Staff and volunteers prepare the meal fresh each day in a fully equipped kitchen. Guests enjoy the meal in the dining hall on-site.

Additional Support

Beyond meals, the Belleville Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul also helps people with rent, utilities, gas, transportation, vehicle repairs, pharmacy needs, doctor visits, clothing, and other basic essentials. Their parish conferences throughout Southern Illinois offer this broader assistance. You can call the office at 618-394-0126 to learn more.

Facilities

The Outreach Ministry Center, Soup Kitchen, and Thrift Store are all located in the same building at 3718 State Street, East St. Louis. There's also a thrift store available on-site.

Ways to Give

There are several ways to support the mission. You can make a monetary donation, donate to the thrift store, or make a vehicle donation.
