Who Can Visit?

Carpenter's Place operates a Day Room with an open door policy for people who are homeless. As long as individuals are not violent or intoxicated, anyone who is homeless may come in. An average of 90 to 100 guests per day use the Day Room. Guests who are sincere in their desire to make positive life changes can also access professional case management and other extended services.

Good to Know

New guests receive a lunch ticket for 7 days right away. To keep receiving a lunch ticket after 7 days, you must meet with a case manager if you haven't already done so. Guests who are actively working on a Life Recovery Plan with a case manager are given access to extended services at Carpenter's Place. Guests are generally not allowed to take food out of the building, though sack lunches are an exception.

Food & Essentials

The Day Room serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. Breakfast is served at 9:00 a.m. and lunch is served at 12:00 p.m. Breakfast options include cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels and cream cheese, biscuits and gravy, and breakfast sandwiches. Lunch includes items like pizza, fried chicken, soup, salads, hot dogs, chili, pasta, and sandwiches, along with a beverage and dessert. One reviewer noted the service provides "ten meals a week." Soft fruit like bananas and grapes is often included for guests who may have dental issues.

How to Pick Up

Guests come in person to the Day Room during open hours. Breakfast and lunch are served on-site in a common gathering area. Leftovers after all guests are served are offered as seconds.
