How Often You Can Visit?
Households can visit up to three times per month.
Good to Know
You'll receive two to three pre-filled bags of food at each visit. Household essentials like toiletries and cleaning supplies are also available, but only on the third Thursday of each month.
Food & Essentials
Each visit includes pre-filled bags of groceries, with meat and milk included when they're in stock. Optional choice items are also on hand so you can pick extras that fit your household's needs. On the third Thursday of every month, the pantry also provides household essentials such as toiletries and cleaning supplies.
How to Pick Up
The pantry runs as a drive-thru at New Life Lutheran Church. Pull up on a Thursday and volunteers will load your pre-filled bags right into your car. You can also choose optional items before leaving.
Additional Support
If you're truly unable to come in person, limited home delivery is available by calling 515-474-1427.
NAMA also partners with the Food Bank of Iowa to host a Mobile Food Pantry that brings fresh and shelf-stable food directly to the community. It runs on the third Monday of every even-numbered month from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at Norwalk Christian Church, 701 Main St, Norwalk, IA 50211.
Through its Food Rescue program, NAMA redirects surplus food from local businesses and events to community fridges, working with the Food Bank of Iowa and Supply Hive Rescue.
If you're facing financial hardship or other challenges, call 515-474-1427 or email help@norwalkhelp.org to connect with support and resources.
NAMA also runs seasonal programs throughout the year, including the Joyful Giving Event at Christmas, which provides holiday gifts to Norwalk children, and the Shoe Love Event, which gives back-to-school shoes, socks, and underwear to students.
Ways to Give
The food pantry depends entirely on community support to keep running. Most-needed food donations include canned meals like Chef Boyardee, canned or packaged tuna and chicken, cereal, and soup.
You can drop off food donations at New Life Lutheran Church, Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or leave them in the collection box near the pantry doors.
To donate money, mail a check to NAMA, c/o Norwalk Christian Church, 701 Main St, Norwalk, Iowa 50211. You can also give online through the Donate Now page.
