Who Can Visit?
Santa Fe Waystation is open to anyone who needs food help. Every Monday, they offer a drive-thru pantry to anyone seeking food assistance. No income test or proof of need is required to come. You do not need to pre-register before your visit.
Items Needed for Registration
When you arrive, staff will ask to see a photo ID if you have one and the number of people in your household so they can give you enough food.
How to Pick Up
Santa Fe Waystation uses a drive-thru format. When you arrive, pull up to the east side of the building on Santa Fe Road first. That is the sign-up side. After checking in, you will be directed to pull around to the south side of the building, where volunteers will load food into your vehicle.
Good to Know
The pantry is open every Monday during two sessions: 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Because volunteers work outdoors, the pantry follows the weather-related openings and closings of the Shawnee Mission School District. If schools are closed due to inclement weather, both the morning and evening sessions will be closed. You can check the website or the Santa Fe Waystation Facebook page for up-to-date information on closures.
Food & Essentials
Santa Fe Waystation provides food and basic supplies for families. Resources come from the federal government through TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program), Harvesters, grants, and donations from organizations, individuals, and businesses. In 2025, the pantry distributed over 204,863 meals to 7,012 households.
Additional Support
Santa Fe Waystation offers social, educational, and wellness resources in the Kansas City area. Their goal is to connect guests with the services they need. For additional food assistance in the area, you can also use the Harvesters Food Locator.
Ways to Give
Financial donations are especially helpful. Contributing money allows the pantry to purchase additional food and supplies for people facing hunger. The pantry also welcomes food drives hosted through workplaces, churches, schools, or civic organizations. To donate online or learn more, visit santafewaystation.org/donate. How to Join the Team?
Volunteers are the foundation of Santa Fe Waystation. Adults and teens are welcome, and volunteers are never asked to do more than they are able. Anyone from age 15 to 99 can volunteer; those who are 15 must be accompanied by an adult during their full shift.
Volunteer shifts are available every Monday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm for food distribution. Volunteers help with check-in, packing food items, breaking down boxes, restocking, running carts, and loading food into vehicles. On the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, volunteers help unload pallets of food delivered by Harvesters. Packing food boxes is also available on varied days and times.
