ABCD South End Neighborhood Service Center
Who Can Visit?
This food pantry serves income-eligible residents of Boston and the surrounding area. If you're struggling with hunger or can't afford the groceries you need on a regular basis, you're welcome to visit. You'll need to call ahead to make an appointment before coming in.
How to Register?
Call the South End Neighborhood Service Center to schedule your appointment.
Food & Essentials
The pantry provides fresh produce along with non-perishable groceries like cereal, rice, and canned tomatoes. Clothing and basic furniture are also available through the Clothing and Essentials program, which is especially helpful if you have young children or have recently moved and urgently need the basics.
How to Pick Up
Visits are by appointment only. Call ahead to schedule your time, then come to the center during food pantry hours and staff will help you get your food.
Additional Support
ABCD's team can help with much more than food. SNAP/food stamp application assistance is available as a walk-in, one-on-one appointment that usually takes about an hour to complete. Free tax preparation is offered for income-eligible residents who earned less than $69,000 in the previous year, through IRS-certified VITA volunteers. Staff can also assist with Citizenship and Naturalization, Green Card Renewal and Replacement, and Utility Bill Advocacy. The team is ready to help with employment applications and resume building as well. If you have longer-term needs, they can connect you with referrals to other support services.
Facilities
Computers are available on-site, and visitors can make up to 5-10 free copies per visit.
Ways to Give
Monetary donations can be made online at bostonabcd.org/donation-details, by phone at 617.348.6559, or by email at give@bostonabcd.org. In-kind donations are welcome too, including clothing (especially winter coats, boots, and warm socks), new linens, towels, gently used furniture, gift certificates to major retailers, and school supplies.
How to Join the Team?
Volunteers are welcome at the food pantry to help stock shelves and distribute food to families. Other ways to contribute include tutoring, supporting Head Start classrooms, and helping with tax preparation. Browse available opportunities at the online opportunity directory, or reach out at volunteer@bostonabcd.org or 617.348.6591.
