Who Can Visit?

Everyone is welcome at Haley House. There are no eligibility requirements and no registration needed to receive a meal or groceries. The doors are open to anyone, whatever their situation.

Food & Essentials

The soup kitchen serves hot, made-from-scratch meals prepared by volunteers. Breakfast is available Monday through Friday, and guests can also come on Sundays for a midday meal. Reviewers describe the food as delicious and home-cooked in quality, with dishes like jerk chicken and a wide variety of seasonings. Coffee is available during morning service.

Every Thursday morning, the food pantry gives out bags of fresh vegetables and other nutritious groceries for neighbors to take home and prepare meals themselves.

Through the Cornerstore Food Pantry, non-perishable items are available on Wednesdays and Sundays. Options include cereal, oatmeal, pasta, peanut butter, granola bars, dried fruit, coffee, tea, and canned goods like fruit, soup, tuna, and vegetables.

Good to Know

The dining room seats around 45 guests and meals are served in a communal style where everyone eats together. The space has a warm, welcoming atmosphere with no judgment. Guests have noted that Haley House is one of the few places in the Boston area that serves breakfast year-round, including during winter months when other options may be unavailable.

How to Pick Up

Walk in during any soup kitchen service and you'll be welcomed to sit down and eat. No ticket or registration is needed. For the Thursday food pantry, arrive at 7:30am to pick up a ticket, and bags of groceries are distributed starting at 10:15am.

At the Cornerstore Food Pantry (open Sundays and Wednesdays), guests can choose their own non-perishable items.

Facilities

On Tuesdays during the morning breakfast service (6:15-9am), guests can visit the Clothing Room to select weather-appropriate clothing and toiletries. Items include socks, underwear, razors, shaving cream, and more.

Additional Support

Haley House offers programs beyond food. The LiFT Reentry Program provides education and job training for people returning home after incarceration. Take Back the Kitchen offers cooking classes for youth in the community.
