MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center Food for Families Food Pantry
Who Can Visit?
Food for Families serves patients at the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center in Chelsea who are experiencing hunger or food insecurity. When patients visit the Obstetrics, Adult Medicine, or Pediatric Departments, they're asked to fill out a short social determinants of health questionnaire while they wait for their appointment. Patients who screen positive for food insecurity are then connected to the program and can access the pantry, which is located discreetly inside the health center.
The program is also open to undocumented patients who can't qualify for public benefits. To learn more, contact Yahaira Guzman at 617-887-3575 or yaguzman@partners.org.
Food & Essentials
The pantry focuses on healthy food options, with a strong emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables sourced weekly from the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Additional Support
Staff connect patients to a range of nutrition resources beyond the in-house pantry, including:
- SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) enrollment help
- WIC (Women, Infants and Children) benefits
- Referrals to other local food pantries and community meal programs
The team also builds relationships with food pantry directors, social service agency staff, and SNAP advocates to make sure patients can keep accessing food resources over time.
