Redemptorist Social Services Center
Who Can Visit?
Redemptorist Social Services Center has served the poor and elderly of metropolitan Kansas City since 1986. The center helps people facing chronic poverty, including the working poor, the elderly, the homebound and homeless, and those who are newly or long-term unemployed. Anyone who needs food assistance and lives in the area is welcome to use the food pantry.
Items Needed for Registration
Please bring proof of residency and identification for each person living in your household when you visit the food pantry.
How Often You Can Visit?
The food pantry is available once per week per household.
Good to Know
The food pantry is available on a walk-in basis, so no appointment is needed. It is open Monday through Thursday from 10am to 1pm. Reviewers suggest arriving a bit early. Plan ahead for how you will carry your groceries home — bring bags or a cart, use the KC Ride bus service, or come in your personal vehicle. The pantry can be busy, so allow extra time in case you have to wait.
Food & Essentials
The pantry is usually well stocked with food, fruit, and vegetables. Reviewers describe it as offering a large selection of food that you can choose from depending on your taste. The center also distributes toiletries and personal hygiene items to clients once a month, including products like soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and toilet paper. High-quality toiletry items are also available through the Dignity Closet once a month during your food pantry appointment.
How to Pick Up
The food pantry operates as a client-choice pantry. When you come in, staff and volunteers help you pick out your food from the available selection. One reviewer shared that "the gentlemen that help you pick out your food are so, so very nice and helpful!"
