Who Can Visit?
Bishop Sullivan Center's food pantry at 3936 Troost Ave. serves households in zip codes 64101 through 64113, and also 64130. If you live in one of those zip codes, you are welcome to come for supplemental groceries. There are no zip code restrictions for this location.

Items Needed for Registration
If this is your first visit, or if you need to renew your pantry card, please bring:
- Your photo ID
- Proof of address from within the last 30 days, such as a utility bill
- Social Security cards or birth certificates for everyone in your household for whom you would like food
Once you have a pantry card, simply bring your pantry card and photo ID on future visits.

A household may receive supplemental groceries once every 30 days.

The pantry provides supplemental groceries to households in need. Visitors have noted fresh bread available for the taking and produce such as vegetables in the parking lot area. Through the "Rick's Kids" shelves inside the pantry, parents with young children can also pick up items for their babies, including diapers, formula, wipes, and baby food.
How to Pick Up
When you arrive at the pantry, staff and volunteers help serve clients and build orders. Volunteers are on hand to sort donations and assist with gleaning produce. Reviewers describe the staff and volunteers as friendly, caring, and respectful.

Bishop Sullivan Center offers a wide range of services beyond the food pantry at this location:
- One City Cafe is a community kitchen at the same address (3936 Troost Ave.) that welcomes everyone for a free grab-and-go lunch Monday through Friday from noon to 1 p.m., and a hot dinner Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Donations are accepted but not required.
- Employment Services offers free one-on-one job counseling, resume help, interview advice, computer classes, and job lead assistance to help people find and keep a job.
- Household Assistance helps families facing eviction or utility shut-off due to unexpected hardship such as a job loss, health problem, or car breakdown.
- Clothes Closet provides clothing for adults and children for everyday wear, school, and work. Coats, hats, and gloves are available in winter. The clothes closet at this location is open Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon, and only requires a photo ID. The closet may be visited once every three months. Clothing vouchers (valued at $10) for the Troost39 Thrift Store at 3922 Troost Avenue are also available Tuesday through Thursday.
- Access KC (formerly KC Medicine Cabinet) provides short-term help with prescriptions, vision care, durable medical equipment, diabetic supplies, and dental emergencies.
- Project ElderCool installs free air conditioners for seniors and people with respiratory disabilities during summer months.
- Christmas Assistance helps families provide gifts and winter items for their children during the holiday season.
If you need a service that is not available here, you can call United Way at 2-1-1 for a referral to another organization.

Bishop Sullivan Center welcomes donations of non-perishable food, clothing, and personal care items. Financial donations can be made online and can be directed to food, jobs, or aid programs. You can also sponsor a lunch or a dinner at One City Cafe to cover the cost of a meal for anyone who needs it. To find the list of most-needed items or to donate, visit bishopsullivan.org. How to Join the Team?
Volunteers are essential to Bishop Sullivan Center's work. Opportunities include:
- Serving meals and helping in the kitchen at One City Cafe
- Packing and distributing groceries at the food pantry
- Helping pick up produce, bread, protein, and donations from wholesalers and grocery stores
- Helping with office mailings or group volunteer activities
