How Often You Can Visit?
Clients at the South County location can receive groceries up to two times per calendar month. If you're homeless, there's no limit on how often you can come.
Good to Know
One visitor received fresh fruit, eggs, and potatoes on their first visit, along with a variety of other foods. The pantry is set up like a small grocery store, so you'll walk through and choose what your family needs. It's worth checking expiration dates on items when you get home, as a few reviewers have noted occasional older stock. Make sure to be on time for your appointment since the staff is known to be strict about appointment windows.
Food & Essentials
Feed My People provides USDA TEFAP foods to all eligible clients. The pantry carries a variety of food throughout the year and works to meet different dietary needs. Reviewers mention receiving fresh fruit, eggs, potatoes, and other foods. The pantry tries its best to have a wide selection, and some visitors have left with more food than they expected.
How to Pick Up
Both Feed My People locations run a Client Choice Food Pantry, set up like a small grocery store. You walk through and pick the food you need for your family. This model cuts down on food waste and lets you choose what works best for your household.
Additional Support
The Transformation Program helps clients with needs beyond food. The team can assist with utility assistance, rental assistance, health and wellness support, and job and career help, including building a resume, writing a cover letter, interview prep, and job searching.
The Healthy Homes Program provides essential household items and utility assistance. During winter, the program distributes heaters and blankets. In summer, fans are available to help with the heat. Youth programs include newborn layettes, school supplies, and new shoes for children.
Feed My People also runs Christmas programs, including a Giving Tree where donors bring new, unwrapped gifts, and an Adopt-A-Family program that matches donors with families in need during the holiday season.
A computer lab is available for clients who don't own a computer or printer.
Facilities
There's an attached thrift store at the South County location that's open to the public. The store carries affordable clothing, shoes, household items, small electronics, and books. Clients who qualify can also receive discount cards or vouchers for items in the thrift store.
