The Community Food Cupboard of Rochester
Who Can Visit?
The Community Food Cupboard of Rochester runs an emergency food program for people who live within its service area. If you live outside the service area, the cupboard will still help you one time and then refer you to another agency that can serve your neighborhood. Food is given by appointment only.
How to Register?
Call (585) 325-4990 to set up an appointment before you come.
Good to Know
Each visit provides about three days' worth of food. People who've visited describe the staff as friendly, helpful, and caring. Reaching the cupboard by phone to book an appointment can sometimes take a few tries, so it helps to keep trying.
Food & Essentials
The cupboard hands out groceries to help families fill their cabinets, with much of the food coming from Foodlink and other donations. Visitors have also found helpful items here like soy milk and gluten-free baked goods such as cupcakes.
How to Pick Up
Volunteers package bags of food ahead of time for distribution. You pick up your food at the cupboard during your appointment.
Additional Support
Beyond food, the cupboard offers extra help. A licensed social worker volunteers one day each month, and you can call (585) 325-4990 to set up a time to meet with her. Visitors have also received other support here, such as clothing and bus passes.
Ways to Give
There are several ways to support the cupboard. You can donate by debit or credit card through their donation page or send a gift through Venmo. You can also buy needed items from their Amazon Wish List. For questions about giving, email foodcupboard@frontier.com or call (585) 325-4990.
How to Join the Team?
The cupboard needs volunteers to help with its emergency food packaging and distribution. Volunteers package bags of food for distribution, rotate the food on the shelves based on expiration dates, and unpack the weekly food deliveries from Foodlink and other donors. If you'd like to help, contact Director Maribeth Weed at (585) 325-4990.
