Greater Cleveland Food Bank Community Resource Center
Who Can Visit?
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank Community Resource Center is open to income-eligible residents. If your household income falls below 200% of the federal poverty line, you can shop at the Healthy Choice Market for free. You'll need a valid photo ID such as an Ohio driver's license or state ID to visit. If you're not sure whether you qualify, call the Help Center at (216) 738-2067 and staff can walk you through your options.
Items Needed for Registration
Bring a valid photo ID, such as an Ohio driver's license or state ID, when you come to pick up food.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can shop at the market up to two times per month.
Good to Know
You can expect to receive about 4 to 5 days' worth of food per visit. The market uses a numbered ticketing system, and numbers are handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. You can get your number up to 2 hours before the market opens, so arriving early is strongly recommended. Wait times can reach several hours on busy days, and fresh produce and meats tend to go quickly later in the day. Appointments are available and help reduce your wait significantly. Bring reusable grocery bags if you can, since the paper bags provided can get heavy and tear. The building has a comfortable waiting area with seating and free hot beverages, plus a children's play area while you wait.
Food & Essentials
The Healthy Choice Market carries a wide variety of food including fresh fruits and vegetables, meats (you can pick up to 3 items or one large family pack), canned goods, bread and fresh bakery items, dairy products, and grain products such as pasta and rice. Snacks and other shelf-stable items are also typically available. The selection varies by visit depending on what has been donated and what's in stock.
How to Pick Up
The Healthy Choice Market operates as a client-choice pantry, like a free grocery store. Shoppers are brought through in groups of 10 to 15, each accompanied by a volunteer who helps guide the way. You walk through and choose the items you want, with quantities typically limited to 1 to 3 items per product depending on availability.
