Who Can Visit?

The Plum Food Pantry serves residents of Plum Borough who meet income guidelines based on 150% of the federal poverty level. You can also qualify if you're a member of a Plum Borough church. You need to register before your first visit by calling (724) 327-0367.

If you're in an emergency and don't live in Plum Borough, the pantry can provide a one-time emergency pack of supplies and point you to the pantry serving your area for ongoing help.

How to Register?

Call (724) 327-0367 to register. Have your household documentation ready, and bring it with you on your first visit.

Items Needed for Registration

Bring these documents when you first come:

  • Proof of residency in Plum Borough, such as a current driver's license with a Plum address, a lease or mortgage statement, or a telephone bill with your address on it. If you're not a borough resident, a letter of church membership from a Plum Borough church on church stationery also works.
  • Proof of income, such as a W-2, Form 1040, Social Security statement, disability statement, unemployment statement, or a recent pay stub.
  • Dates of birth for every person in your household, including all children.
  • Last four digits of the Social Security number for every person in your household, including all children.

How Often You Can Visit?

When you register, you're assigned to one of the first three Tuesdays of the month. You'll come on your assigned Tuesday each month, so once a month.

Good to Know

Reviewers mention a wide variety of food in the packages. Your groceries are pre-packed and loaded directly into your car by volunteers, so the process is quick and easy.

The pantry provides nutritional food and grocery products, including fresh produce and bakery items. Packages also include paper products and personal care items.

How to Pick Up

Groceries are pre-packed into bags for each scheduled client ahead of time. When you arrive on your assigned Tuesday, volunteers load your bags into your car.

Additional Support

The Plum Food Pantry holds several special events during the year to help families a little extra:

  • An annual winter coat drive
  • A Thanksgiving meal that includes a gift certificate for a turkey
  • Christmas gift certificates and a toy drive

These events are supported through local churches.

Ways to Give

The pantry accepts donations of non-perishable foods, household products, and cash. Cash donations are used to purchase food from the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and to pay utilities. To schedule a food delivery, call (724) 327-0367 in advance.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers help on Tuesday mornings by setting up tables, unloading food delivery trucks, packing groceries into bags, and sorting fresh produce and bakery items. In the afternoons, volunteers load groceries into clients' cars and help with clean-up. To volunteer, call Joe Utterback at (724) 327-0367 and leave a message. Someone will call you back as soon as possible. A background check is required and can be completed online.
