How Often You Can Visit?
Clients can visit the food pantry once per month.
Good to Know
If there's an emergency and no immediate appointments are available, the pantry can provide a "bridge box" with a week's worth of groceries to walk-in clients right away. The pantry is a client-choice model, which means you get to pick your own items based on your household size, preferences, and dietary needs, just like shopping at a grocery store.
Food & Essentials
The pantry stocks items based on nutritional guidelines from the North Texas Food Bank. Core items include canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned proteins, beans, grains, meat, and eggs. Donated items like bread, frozen meals, and produce are also regularly available.
The pantry also includes Oma's Kosher Corner, a dedicated section for kosher food. This section provides kosher meat, pantry staples, and seasonal items such as Kosher for Passover food and other holiday essentials for clients who follow kosher dietary laws.
Past drives and donations have also brought items like cereal, mac and cheese, nut butter and jelly, condiments, spices, shelf-stable milk, snack foods, toiletries, diapers, wipes, and cleaning supplies to the pantry shelves.
How to Pick Up
The JFS Dallas Food Pantry uses a client-choice model. When you come in for your appointment, you shop for your own food items, similar to how you'd shop at a grocery store. You can choose based on your household size, preferences, and dietary needs.
Additional Support
Food pantry clients also have access to a wide range of wraparound services provided by Jewish Family Service of Dallas. These include individual and family counseling, employment counseling, family violence intervention, special needs services, and services for older adults. When an unmet need comes up, the team works to provide information and referrals as needed.
For older adults aged 60 and up who live in Dallas County and are unable to cook or shop for themselves due to physical or cognitive limitations, the Kosher Home-Delivered Meals (KHDM) program delivers nutritious, kosher meals directly to their homes. Each delivery includes an entrée, a vegetable, a side dish, non-dairy milk, bread, and dessert. Volunteer drivers deliver meals every Monday and/or Thursday, providing a full week's worth of meals at each visit.
Ways to Give
JFS Dallas welcomes food donations of shelf-stable, unopened, and unexpired food. You can drop off donations at the front desk during regular building hours (Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm) at 16301 Quorum Drive, Addison, TX 75001.
The pantry gladly accepts all types of food donations. Kosher items that come in are placed in Oma's Kosher Corner. The most-needed items include canned proteins, nut butter and jelly, shelf-stable milk, condiments and spices, cereal, mac and cheese, snack foods, toiletries, diapers, wipes, and cleaning supplies.
You can also donate online at jfsdallas.org/donate-now or shop from the Amazon Wish List to send supplies directly to JFS Dallas. Monetary gifts can also be designated for the Food Pantry specifically by noting the program name in the additional notes section when donating. For questions about donations, call 972-437-9950.
How to Join the Team?
