Who Can Visit?

Everyone is welcome at Angel House Soup Kitchen. They serve anyone who needs a meal, without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, religious preference, disability, or income. There's no registration required and no questions asked. You don't need money or ID to eat here.

Good to Know

Angel House is a soup kitchen, not a food pantry. They serve hot meals every day of the year except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Each meal begins with a prayer of thanksgiving. You can reach them by phone at 512-643-2327 or by email at angelhouse@austinbaptistchapel.com. They're located at 908 E Cesar Chavez, Austin, Texas 78702.

Food & Essentials

Breakfast is served daily from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM and includes a sack breakfast with coffee, one per guest. Lunch is served daily from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM and includes a sack lunch with a cup of soup, one per guest. Guests receive a ticket before walking in and hand it to staff at the counter to claim their lunch tray. On Sundays, there's also an outside sermon during breakfast.

How to Pick Up

A ticket is given to guests before they enter, and they hand it to staff at the counter to get their meal. The line can get long, so it's a good idea to arrive 30 to 45 minutes early. There's no pre-registration needed.

Additional Support

Angel House offers showers every day during meal serving hours. Clothing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Items are donation-based, so what's available varies daily. Because of limited space, clothing is mostly t-shirts and jeans for both women and men. No dresses or business attire are available. The site also shares links to community resources including help with addiction, housing, shelter, mental health, and support for people experiencing homelessness in the Austin area.

Ways to Give

Angel House depends entirely on donations and doesn't accept any funding from city, county, state, or federal programs. You can donate online through PayPal, send a check by mail to PO BOX 143224, Austin, Texas 78714-3224, or shop from their Amazon or Target wish lists. They also accept donations of men's clothing in good condition, including coats, jeans, underwear, socks, and used shoes. Clothing donations can be dropped off any day between 9 AM and 11 AM. For large gifts or wire transfers, contact them at angelhouse@austinbaptistchapel.com.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers are welcome and come from all backgrounds, ages 12 and up. To sign up, email angelhouse@austinbaptistchapel.com. Please don't call to volunteer. Volunteers serve from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM helping prepare lunches. Weekends fill up about 3 months in advance, and weekdays book out 1 to 2 months ahead, so it's best to reach out early.
