Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Central Texas
Who Can Visit?
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry is open to anyone in need. You don't need to show an ID to receive food. One visitor shared, "I didn't even have to have an ID." The pantry does not judge based on race, color, religion, or background. Everyone is welcome. If you need emergency food outside of Saturday hours, the Community Outreach Program is also open Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can visit the food pantry every Saturday. For other Community Outreach services like bus passes, clothing vouchers, and emergency food boxes, you can come during the Tuesday through Thursday morning hours.
Good to Know
You'll get a form to fill out when you arrive. Just look for the lady near the front of the parking lot who has forms and pencils. After filling it out, hand it to the person at the front of the food line. You get a big box of food, and volunteers are there to help you carry it to your car. Visitors say the line moves pretty quickly. If you can, try to arrive early on Saturdays since the bread and dessert tables go fast. Some items may be close to their sell-by date but are still good to eat, so always check the dates.
Food & Essentials
The pantry is stocked every week with meat, fresh produce, dairy, bread, canned goods, and desserts. You can also find large boxes filled with bread and desserts near the front. Diapers are available upon request.
Additional Support
Beyond food, the Community Outreach Program offers bus passes, clothing vouchers, and resource referrals. Financial help including rent, mortgage, and utility assistance is available through local volunteer groups called Conferences. You can reach your local conference through the Conference Locator. The SVdP Pharmacy Program helps Texas residents who have no health insurance and a household income below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level get prescriptions filled at no cost. Call (512) 251-6995 to be referred. The Mini Loan Program offers low-interest conversion loans (3-4% over 12 months) to help people escape high-interest payday or title loan debt, and emergency loans for vehicle repairs or apartment security deposits. Contact your local conference or email miniloanprogram@ssvdp.org to learn more.
Facilities
There is a thrift store on-site at 901 W. Braker Lane where neighbors in need can receive clothing vouchers to shop. The store carries clothing, furniture, household items, electronics, and much more at affordable prices.
Ways to Give
You can make a one-time or monthly financial donation online at ssvdp.org/donate. The thrift store also accepts gently used donations at 901 W. Braker Lane, Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. They take clothing, furniture, housewares, electronics, and many other items in good condition. To schedule a donation pickup, call (512) 251-6995 ext. 105. You can also shop at Randalls and sign up for the Good Neighbor Program using number 13946 to have a portion of your purchases donated to SVdP.
How to Join the Team?
There are many ways to volunteer. Food Pantry volunteers are needed on Fridays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 7:30 AM to noon, helping stock shelves and prepare food boxes. Community Outreach volunteers distribute bus passes, clothing vouchers, snack packs, and household items during Tuesday through Thursday hours. Thrift Store volunteers help with sorting, receiving, organizing, and pricing Tuesday through Saturday in morning or afternoon shifts. Data entry and office support volunteers are also welcome. Fill out the volunteer form at ssvdp.org/volunteer or contact the office at (512) 251-6995.
