Who Can Visit?
Sunrise Community Church's Homeless Navigation Center is open to anyone who is experiencing homelessness or in need of support. Everyone is welcome here, no matter your background, race, ethnicity, income, or identity. The church is known for its non-judgmental approach and truly inclusive community.
Good to Know
The Navigation Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. It's closed on weekends. People often start lining up around 8:00 AM, and the line moves quickly thanks to dedicated volunteers. The church is easy to reach by public transit via bus routes #3, #105, #315, and #484 (overnight). It's located one block south of the Westgate Transit Center.
On Thursdays, there's extra help available, including a doctor on site, staff to help you sign up for SNAP (Lone Star Card), and assistance getting your MAP (Medical Access Program) card, which can bring prescription copays down to $0.
You can also use the church as a mailing address if you need a place to receive mail.
Food & Essentials
The Navigation Center serves hot coffee and meals Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Bread is also available to take home. Reviewers describe tables kept full of good food throughout the day.
In addition to food, the following items are available:
- Free clothing and shoes
- Free socks
- Hygiene products and personal care items
- Work shoes and outerwear have also been mentioned by visitors
How to Pick Up
Just show up during open hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM). No appointment is needed to receive food. For other services like ID help, SNAP sign-up, or housing assessments, it helps to arrive early so you can be seen.
