How Often You Can Visit?

Once you're invited to shop at the CommUNITY Market, you can shop bi-weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays for a total of eight visits. If you miss more than two shopping appointments, you'll be asked to use the Saturday drive-through market instead.

If you haven't received an invitation to the CommUNITY Market yet, you're welcome to attend the weekly drive-through pantry every Saturday.

Good to Know

During your visit, you'll have personalized help from dedicated shopping ambassadors. The market offers nutritious and culturally appropriate food so you can find items that fit your family's needs. If you can't make it to the market in person, delivery options are available through a partnership with DoorDash for those who are unable to travel.

Food & Essentials

The CommUNITY Market provides nutritious and culturally appropriate groceries. Neighbors can shop for healthy food that fits their individual circumstances and household needs.

How to Pick Up

The CommUNITY Market is a client-choice pantry, meaning neighbors get to shop for their own groceries with help from friendly shopping ambassadors. The in-store shopping experience runs Tuesday through Thursday from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, by appointment only.

On Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, a drive-through market is available at 3220 Samuell Blvd, Dallas 75223. Clients drive up and stay in their cars while staff and volunteers place pre-packaged bags of groceries in the trunk of each vehicle.

Additional Support

Empowering the Masses has partnered with DoorDash to deliver food to neighbors who are incapacitated or unable to travel, so that no one is left behind in getting the help they need.

The organization also hosts monthly Lunch and Learn sessions that address key community health topics and offer education and advocacy resources. Health screenings, senior programs, and vital service referrals are also available through their community engagement and wellness initiatives.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers are welcome and truly needed here. There are shifts available Tuesday through Friday and on Saturdays. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, volunteers assist as shopping ambassadors, unload distribution trucks, stock shelves, and bag customer items. On Fridays, volunteers help unload the distribution truck and package food for the Saturday drive-through. On Saturdays, volunteers assist with the drive-through market operation and bring pre-packaged grocery bags to clients' vehicles.

Volunteers need to be at least 13 years old to serve on their own. A 24-hour notice before your shift is required so the team can be prepared. You'll receive confirmation from the volunteer coordinator before arriving.

To apply, you can submit an Individual Volunteer Application at wkf.ms/3CLhVU4, a Youth Volunteer Application at wkf.ms/3pndYBW, or a Group Volunteer Application at wkf.ms/44gDgAl. You can also reach the volunteer coordinator by email at cjohnson@empoweringthemasses.org.
