Who Can Visit?
Tarrant Area Food Bank does not hand out food directly to individuals at its main location. Instead, it supplies food to a network of over 500 partner agencies, such as churches and community centers, across 13 counties in North Texas. Those agencies then serve local families and individuals. If you need food, you can use the Find Food Map on the TAFB website to find a food pantry near you. You can also call 2-1-1, or if you're calling from a cell phone, dial 817-258-8100, to reach United Way's information and referral staff, who can share details about local community resources.
Food & Essentials
The food TAFB distributes includes a nutritious mix of fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable products. About 39 out of every 100 pounds of food distributed is a fresh fruit or vegetable. The network receives canned protein, fruits, and vegetables, as well as other non-perishable items that are especially helpful for kids and families.
Additional Support
TAFB offers several ways to get help beyond a standard pantry visit.
Home Delivery Program: If you're homebound because of a short- or long-term disability, you may qualify for food delivery. Each month, participants receive two 20-pound boxes of nonperishable items like rice, lentils, cereal, and canned goods, packed and delivered to your door through a partnership with Amazon. You don't need to be home when the delivery arrives. Services run in six-month intervals (January through June, or July through December). To qualify, you must be homebound due to a disability, live within the delivery zip code coverage area, meet income or household crisis eligibility criteria, and have a residential mailing address. For more information, contact Adilene Hernandez at homedeliveries@tafb.org or 817-857-7054.
Senior Box Program (CSFP): Qualifying seniors aged 60 and older can receive a free monthly box of USDA food to supplement their diet. The box includes shelf-stable items such as canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, canned meats, juice, and a block of cheese. To qualify, you must be 60 or older and meet income guidelines. Contact your nearest participating agency to register. For questions, reach Debbie Gormley at 817-857-7100 or debbie.gormley@tafb.org.
SNAP Help: TAFB's Community Resources team helps people apply for SNAP (food stamps) and other financial assistance. The R.E.D. (Resources + Education, Delivered) program is a mobile unit that travels to partner agencies, health clinics, and schools to help people apply for SNAP and other public benefits, and can provide a very limited supply of groceries to people seeking help. You can schedule a R.E.D. visit at tafb.org.
Farmers Market Nutrition Program: WIC participants can receive $30 in vouchers to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and cut herbs from participating farmers markets. Vouchers are available for pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding participants and infants or children ages 4 months through 5 years. The TAFB Indoor Market at 2600 Cullen, Fort Worth, TX 76107, offers voucher pick-up on Thursdays from June through July (4 PM to 6 PM). Learn more at tafb.org/farmers-market/.
Youth and Education Programs: TAFB runs youth-focused programs through its Ready to Learn initiative, including in-school markets that provide fresh, kid-friendly groceries families can take home, in-school snack programs, cooking classes, and food education classes. For questions about Ready to Learn, email ReadyToLearn@tafb.org.
Cooking Matters: TAFB offers Cooking Matters classes that inspire families with limited food budgets to make healthy, affordable, and delicious meals.
Ways to Give
You can support TAFB in several ways. Every $1 you give helps provide access to five nutritious meals for neighbors in need. You can make an online donation at tafb.org/donate-main/. You can also donate by check made payable to Tarrant Area Food Bank, mailed to Elvira Reyes, Donor Database Manager, at 2525 Cullen Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107. To set up automatic donations from a checking or savings account through the DIRECT FEED program, use the same mailing address.
Please note that TAFB is not currently accepting food donations from the public at its location. Instead, consider organizing a virtual food drive at teamtafb.org. You can also donate your vehicle through CARS at www.careasy.org. To make a gift of stocks or bonds, contact Stephen Raeside at Stephen.raeside@tafb.org or call 817-857-7100. For planned giving such as a will or trust, visit tafb.planmylegacy.org. You can also drop off non-perishable food items at a nearby partner agency location using the Find Food Map.
How to Join the Team?
TAFB welcomes volunteers of all ages and abilities. You can volunteer in the Quality Control area (sorting and packing fresh produce, nonperishable foods, and household items), the Community Kitchen (preparing healthy meals from scratch alongside staff chefs), or Community Gardens (planting and harvesting produce that goes directly to families). Volunteers also help with mobile food distributions and with the Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
To sign up, visit tafb.galaxydigital.com. Groups of 20 or more can fill out the Group Volunteer Form at airtable.com. TAFB also offers opportunities for court-ordered or lawyer-referred community service at its Fort Worth location — fill out the Community Service Form at tafb.galaxydigital.com/courtorderedcommunityservice/. High school and college students can also volunteer to meet community service requirements for degrees.
