Crossroads Community Services
Who Can Visit?
Crossroads Community Services is open to individuals and families in need of food assistance in the Dallas area. Shoppers can receive food by visiting the in-house Community Market or through one of the Community Distribution Partner locations throughout Dallas, Ellis, and Navarro counties.
Items Needed for Registration
Based on visitor experiences, you'll need to bring a valid driver's license or ID to receive food. A staff member will ask you a few questions as part of the intake process.
Good to Know
When you visit, you can expect a variety of food including frozen meats, fresh vegetables, and fruit. The pantry helps an average of 1,100 households every month. Reviewers share that the market can fill up quickly, so it helps to arrive early. On distribution days, some visitors line up in their cars around 11 AM before service begins at noon. Staff and volunteers are known for being welcoming and kind.
Food & Essentials
Crossroads puts a strong focus on nutritious food. With help from a registered dietitian, the pantry uses a nutrition-based food selection system that calculates the right amounts of fruit, vegetables, proteins, grains, and dairy for each household based on age and gender, following the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Shoppers have received frozen meats, fresh vegetables and fruit, canned goods, and other grocery staples. Pet food for cats has also been provided to shoppers who need it.
How to Pick Up
Crossroads serves shoppers through its in-house Community Market. The market runs four days a week and on the first Saturday of each month by appointment. One reviewer describes the drive-up process: you get in a car line, pull forward, answer a few questions and show your ID, and volunteers load food directly into your car. Inside, shoppers can choose from available items guided by the nutrition-based selection system.
Ways to Give
Crossroads welcomes generous donors who want to support food equity in the community. You can make a monetary gift online at ccsdallas.org/donate. The organization promises it will never sell, share, or trade donor information with any other entity.
