Who Can Visit?

St. Joseph Food Pantry is open to anyone in need who lives in Manatee County. There are no other restrictions on who can come — any eligible Manatee County resident is welcome.

How to Register?

New clients need to register on their first visit. All you need to provide is your name, zip code, and your signature confirming you qualify for food in Manatee County. After that, you'll get a pantry card to use on future visits.

How Often You Can Visit?

Each eligible client can receive food once per month.

Good to Know

The pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Reviewers say lines move fast even when they're long. Check the calendar for any holiday closures before you go, and call ahead to confirm days and times since schedules can change.

Food & Essentials

You can generally expect to receive meat and/or seafood, pasta, tomato sauce, canned vegetables, peanut butter, and cereal, along with a variety of USDA commodities. Clients can also choose from a large assortment of bread and other donated foods. The pantry also distributes toiletries — including shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap or body wash. During cooler months, blankets and throws may also be available.

How to Pick Up

When you arrive, volunteers hand out food directly. Clients can browse a selection of bread and donated items in addition to receiving their regular food package. The process moves quickly, and staff and volunteers are there to help throughout.

Ways to Give

The pantry accepts non-perishable food donations and monetary gifts. Their current wish list includes canned green beans, canned corn, cereal and oatmeal, canned tuna, peanut butter and jelly in plastic containers, boxed spaghetti, canned tomato sauce, macaroni and cheese in boxes, ketchup and mustard in plastic containers, shelf-stable or dry milk, and breakfast bars. Toiletries in full sizes are also welcome. Note that fresh or frozen food donations from individuals are not accepted — fresh and frozen items must come directly from their partner stores or Feeding Tampa Bay.

You can drop off food donations at 2704 33rd Ave W, Bradenton, FL 34205, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. For questions or to arrange a drop-off, call (941) 756-3732 or email directors@stjoepantry.com.

To give money, you can donate through the St. Joseph Food Pantry online giving page. You can also give through the Flanzer Trust, which will match monthly donations from $5 to $500 per household (up to $3,000 per year).

How to Join the Team?

The pantry runs entirely on volunteers. Current needs include drivers to pick up and deliver bread every other Saturday from the Publix in the Target Plaza, and volunteers to collect donations from the food pantry boxes at church entrances after the 9 a.m. Mass. To get involved, call (941) 756-3732 or email directors@stjoepantry.com.
