Margie's Market is open to everyone in Sarasota County. You're welcome to walk in during open hours. Reservations are also available if you'd like to plan your visit in advance.

No documents are needed to register for food when you arrive. The market is designed to give you a dignified shopping experience in a welcoming space in the heart of the Newtown neighborhood. Margie's Market participates in the TEFAP program, a federally funded food assistance program.

Margie's Market provides dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and protein items, and shelf-stable non-perishable goods.

How to Pick Up

This is a client-choice market where you get to shop and pick your own groceries, just like in a store. Service takes place indoors.

Additional Support

A Benefits Specialist can help you apply for SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, and TANF. They'll help you fill out and submit your application and offer follow-up support as needed. This service is for individuals and families living in Sarasota or DeSoto County who are at or below 165% of the Federal Poverty Level. Walk-ins are welcome for benefits help, but appointments are preferred. To make an appointment, text APPT to 941-379-6333 and a team member will reach out to you.
