IMPACT Drake Neighborhood Food Pantry
Who Can Visit?
This pantry is open to everyone in the greater Des Moines area. There are no income or residency requirements, and no appointments are needed. Just show up during open hours and you'll be welcomed. Bring a photo ID if you have one, but you won't be turned away if you don't.
Items Needed for Registration
Bring some form of photo ID if you can. You will not be denied food if you don't have one.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can receive a three-day supply of food for your household once per month at no cost. After you've used your monthly supply, "Anytime" items are available daily, so you can come back as often as you need for those additional items.
Good to Know
Each visit provides a three-day supply of food based on your household size. DMARC focuses on stocking food that is healthy and nourishing, keeping shelves filled with items you'd find at a regular grocery store. Visitors describe a large selection of food, a friendly staff, and an easy intake process.
Food & Essentials
The pantry carries a wide variety of food and grocery items. Non-perishables include peanut butter, dry and canned beans, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meat, pasta, rice, pasta sauce, soup, and non-meat proteins like tofu and nuts. Fresh and frozen options include fruits, vegetables, frozen meat, and healthy frozen meals. You'll also find dairy products and whole grain bread items. Personal care items are available too, including formula, baby food, diapers (especially sizes 4, 5, and 6), baby wipes, personal hygiene products, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and period products.
How to Pick Up
This is a self-select pantry. You shop for the items you need with guidance from a volunteer, much like shopping at a grocery store. Volunteers are there to explain how the pantry works and answer any questions.
Additional Support
If you're unable to make it to the pantry in person, DMARC offers a free home delivery service to the greater Polk County area. Call toll-free at 1-833-362-7220 Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon to place your order. All deliveries are made on Thursdays. There are no income restrictions or delivery charges. DMARC also runs a mobile food pantry that visits community sites around Des Moines for people who have trouble getting to a physical pantry.
Ways to Give
Monetary donations can be made online at dmarcunited.org/donate. Checks can be made payable to DMARC and mailed to 100 Army Post Rd., Des Moines, IA 50315.
