Who Can Visit?

The food pantry is open to anyone who needs help. Boston Rescue Mission serves people who are homeless, at risk of losing their home, or struggling to afford food. Services are open to everyone regardless of religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or physical ability.

Food & Essentials

The pantry stocks both fresh and shelf-stable foods. Fresh options include poultry, fish, prime sirloin, fruit, vegetables, and salad and mixed greens. You'll also find dairy items like cheese, eggs, and milk, along with bread and desserts, plus dips, salsa, and spreads. Shelf-stable staples include rice, beans, pasta, cereals, and other packaged foods.

How to Pick Up

Staff and volunteers set up ahead of time and are ready to welcome guests when the pantry opens. The team is there to help you receive food and to share a warm, personal connection. For questions, call (617) 446-3458.

Additional Support

The Mission runs a daily on-site meal program. Program guests can get lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 PM every day, and overnight shelter residents receive a community dinner each evening. The Mission also provides overnight emergency shelter for men and women, and residential recovery programs for people dealing with alcohol or drug dependency. Case management is available for shelter residents. Optional Christian fellowship and prayer meetings are offered for anyone who's interested.

Ways to Give

You can give online by credit card, debit card, or PayPal at the Mission's donation page. Monthly giving is available through the Circle of Hope at this link. To mail a check, send it to Boston Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 120069, Boston, MA 02112-0069. The Mission also accepts gifts of stocks and securities. If you have an old car, boat, RV, or motorcycle you'd like to donate, call John at (617) 338-9000 ext. 1216 or email jsamaan@brm.org. For material goods, check the wish list to see what residents and guests need most right now.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers are welcome year-round, seven days a week. Opportunities include helping in the kitchen, setting up and running the Monday and Saturday food pantry, cutting and trimming donated meat, maintaining the shelter building, doing administrative tasks, researching affordable housing and job leads for residents, and driving the Mission's cargo van to pick up food donations from local restaurants and vendors.

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old unless accompanied by an adult. Spanish-speaking volunteers are especially encouraged to apply. To get started, fill out the volunteer application online. For more information, reach Alisa, the Volunteer Coordinator, at (617) 338-9000 ext. 1219 or volunteer@brm.org.
