Additional Support

Along with food, this ABCD location offers a wide range of services to help you and your family:

  • SNAP/food stamp help: Walk-in assistance is available to help you complete and submit your SNAP application, usually done in a one-hour session.
  • Free tax preparation: IRS-certified VITA volunteers help eligible residents file federal and Massachusetts state tax returns at no cost. If you earned less than $69,000 in 2025, you may qualify. Services are available in many languages, and there's extra help for seniors through the Tax Counseling for the Elderly program.
  • Housing counseling: Support for housing-related needs.
  • Utility bill advocacy: Help managing energy costs and utility bills.
  • Clothing and household essentials: Clothing and basic furnishings for families with infants or young children, or those who've recently moved into a new home. Call 617.348.6000 or visit your nearest ABCD location to ask.
  • MBTA income-eligible reduced fares: Help accessing discounted public transit fares.
  • Youth programs: SummerWorks places income-eligible youth in paid jobs and career development workshops, and Youth Engaged in Action (YEA!) offers youth engagement opportunities.
  • Healthy Cooking and Nutrition workshops: Offered from time to time. Contact the center to ask about upcoming sessions.
  • Tech Goes Home: An occasional short course that brings computers, internet access, and digital training to the community.
