Elizabeth Peabody House - Food Distribution Center
Who Can Visit?
The Elizabeth Peabody House food pantry is open to the general public in Somerville and surrounding towns. Anyone who needs food is welcome to come. Before your first visit, the pantry asks you to fill out a short registration form online to speed up the check-in process and help staff meet your needs.
How to Register?
Fill out the pre-registration form on the EPH website before you arrive.
Items Needed for Registration
You don't need to bring an ID. Staff may ask your name and town of residence for internal records, but no ID of any kind is required.
Good to Know
The pantry entrance is at the ramp door on Grant Street at 277 Broadway. Look for the ramp door rather than the main entrance.
Food & Essentials
The pantry keeps a variety of nutritious food stocked, including canned goods and fresh items. EPH partners with the Greater Boston Food Bank, Spoonfuls, and Food For Free to make sure the pantry always has a range of food available. For special occasions, EPH also provides Thanksgiving turkeys for households who need them.
How to Pick Up
Come during open hours for walk-in food pick-up. The pantry is open three days a week: Wednesdays 5–7 pm, Thursdays 10 am–12 pm, and Sundays 10 am–3 pm. Use the ramp door entrance on Grant Street.
Additional Support
Beyond the pantry, EPH runs several other ways to connect people with food. The pantry supplies an open-access community fridge for neighbors who can't make it during regular hours. EPH also holds pop-up food distributions at local subsidized housing locations, and delivers groceries directly to elderly and disabled community members who can't come in. Staff can also help eligible guests apply for SNAP benefits.
Ways to Give
Food donations are welcome, but because storage is limited, you'll need to reach out before dropping anything off. Contact Tom Boucher to coordinate a food donation. To make a monetary donation, visit the donation page. You can give a one-time gift or set up a recurring monthly donation.
How to Join the Team?
Volunteers are essential to keeping the food pantry running. Fill out the volunteer interest form at teph.org/volunteer-opportunities to get started. You can choose between one-time or ongoing opportunities, and indicate which days and times work for you. EPH also partners with BostonCares for volunteer placements.
