Who Can Visit?

The Irondequoit Community Cupboard serves families and individuals who live in the Town of Irondequoit, New York. It provides emergency assistance to local residents with dignity and kindness, and it welcomes everyone without prejudice. The cupboard does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, age, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.

Food is given out by appointment only, so you'll need to set up a time before you come.

How to Register?

Call the cupboard at (585) 336-9107 to make an appointment. Appointments can't be made online.

Food & Essentials

The cupboard offers fresh produce, including items grown in its own community garden. It also buys produce that lasts a long time for guests, like onions, potatoes, beets, yams, apples, and oranges. Alongside fresh food, you can find pantry staples such as canned goods, pasta, soups, and shelf-stable snacks.

Because food stamps don't cover everything, the cupboard also helps with everyday non-food needs. These include hygiene items like toothpaste, soap, and deodorant, plus laundry detergent, cleaning products, and paper goods. Guests can also receive items such as school supplies and birthday cakes.

How to Pick Up

Food is handed out at the cupboard at 2841 Culver Road by appointment only. Distribution happens on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Be sure to call ahead at (585) 336-9107 to set up your visit.

Additional Support

The cupboard runs a Weekend Backpack Program that sends food home with children for the weekend, including soups, canned pasta meals, oatmeal, juice, granola bars, and snacks.

During the holidays, the cupboard offers special programs such as Thanksgiving meals, a Special Santa program for children, and Christmas holiday baskets and meals. Holiday sign-ups have their own deadlines, and every adult needs to bring a current month's bill or a copy of a lease for each adult in the household.

Many guests face transportation challenges, so the cupboard also shares gift cards, gas cards, and bus passes when they're available. The team often connects guests with referrals to other agencies as well.

Ways to Give

Donations of non-perishable food and other items can be dropped off at several spots around town: the Irondequoit Community Cupboard at 2841 Culver Road (Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM), the Irondequoit Public Library during business hours, the side door of the Ridge Culver Fire Department (open 24/7), and the Irondequoit Community Center at Skyview. Perishable food must be brought to the cupboard only, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Please note that the Irondequoit Town Hall is not a drop-off point.

You can give money through the cupboard's PayPal link or mail a check made out to ICC c/o Debbie Evans, PO Box 17834, Rochester, NY 14617. Gift cards, gas cards, and bus passes are a big help too. Please note that the cupboard does not accept clothing. You can also support the cupboard through United Way as designee number 2466. For questions, email ICCDebbieEvans@gmail.com or call (585) 336-9107.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers are welcome to help on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Tasks include picking up donations from other locations, stocking and sorting food, helping with the Backpack Program, serving as a liaison to a church, school, or civic group, and weeding or gardening at the cupboard. Volunteers should be able to lift 10 pounds and stand for periods of time. Students must be at least a junior in high school.

To get started, fill out the volunteer application. For more information, email ICCDebbieEvans@gmail.com or call (585) 336-9107.
