Who Can Visit?

The food pantry at 145 Parsells Avenue is part of Community Place's Family Services, which helps people meet basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. To receive food, you need to live in one of these zip codes: 14605, 14607, 14609, 14610, or 14621. Your household income must be at or below 185% of the poverty level, and you'll need to show a real, immediate need that the pantry's help can address.

If you live outside those zip codes, the staff will refer you to a partner agency closer to you, such as Baden Street Settlement House, Catholic Family Center, Charles Settlement House, IBERO, South West Area Network, or Monroe County Legal Assistance Corporation. And if you don't quite meet the requirements, you won't be turned away. A case manager looks at each situation to find the best way to help.

If you need help with food or clothing, you can call (585) 288-0021 Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

How Often You Can Visit?

You can use the pantry once every 60 days.

Food & Essentials

The pantry provides groceries to take home, including canned goods like green beans and corn. Beyond food, Family Services also helps with clothing and personal items, so you can ask about those needs too. Around the holidays, the pantry has also put together Christmas baskets for families.

How to Pick Up

When you visit during pantry hours, a staff member helps you and gathers a supply of groceries for you to take home.

Additional Support

Community Place's Family Services offers much more than food. The team provides advocacy, case management, and referrals to other agencies. They also help with rent and mortgage assistance, home management skill-building, and financial workshops. If you're facing a tough situation, a case manager can work with you to connect you to the right resources.

Ways to Give

You can support the pantry with a gift online through the Community Place donation page. The organization also welcomes gifts-in-kind. To learn more about giving, you can call the Development Department at (585) 327-7200, ext. 103.

How to Join the Team?

Volunteers are an important part of Community Place's work. If you'd like to help, you can fill out and return the volunteer application, or send an email to hr@communityplace.org to get started.
