The Christian Service Center serves people in the Capitol Hill community on the southside of Oklahoma City. Reviewers mention that people in the south OKC area are welcome to come for help.
Who Can Visit?
Skyline's Food Resource Center (FRC) is open to anyone who needs help with food. There are no geographic restrictions mentioned. First-time visitors need to bring a few documents (see the next section), and returning visitors need a photo ID.
Items Needed for Registration
First-time visitors must bring:
- A photo ID (driver's license or school ID) for themselves
- Some form of ID for each household member, such as a social security card, birth certificate, school ID, or insurance card
Returning visitors need to bring their photo ID each visit. Reviewers also mention that a current utility bill or piece of mail with your name and address is helpful to have ready.
How Often You Can Visit?
You can receive food assistance once every 30 days.
Good to Know
The FRC works like a small grocery store where you choose the items you want. Selection can vary from visit to visit, so what's available one week may be different the next. Several reviewers suggest arriving early since popular items can run out. The pantry is bilingual, and instruction signs are available in multiple languages. After your visit, you'll receive a card with your registration number and your return date, which makes check-in faster next time.
How to Pick Up
The FRC uses a shopping model. Visitors walk through the store and pick out the food they want, much like going to a grocery store. The amount you can take is based on your household size. Staff and volunteers are on hand to help with the shopping process as needed.
Additional Support
Skyline offers a Mobile Pantry that travels to 15 locations across the OKC metro area. The mobile pantry distributes groceries, clothing, blankets, and personal care items like soap and toothpaste to neighbors who don't have a nearby store. Dates and locations vary, so check the Skyline calendar at okcskyline.org/calendar for the current schedule.
Beyond food, Skyline also provides:
- Eye Clinic: Free eye exams by appointment, and low-cost eyeglasses (reviewers mention single-vision lenses for around $45 and progressive lenses for $65). Call (405) 632-2644 for an appointment.
- Resource Assistance: Staff can help connect you with referrals for housing, dental care, medical care, childcare, employment, financial help, legal assistance, and more. You can fill out the Resource Assistance Form and expect a response within 1 to 3 business days.
Facilities
Skyline has a Style Shop (clothing closet) on site where visitors can find clothes. Reviewers note that clothing is available for purchase (not free), while food is free. There is also a garden program on site.
