Who Can Visit?

Community Human Services (CHS) helps individuals and families in the Pittsburgh area who are experiencing homelessness or food insecurity. Most programs are accessed through the Allegheny Link, which is Allegheny County's single entry point for homeless and housing services. The Allegheny Link connects households with emergency shelters, rental assistance, long-term housing programs, and other support services.

Additional Support

People enrolled in CHS's housing, shelter, or residential programs can access participant services at this location. A Peer Support Specialist is assigned to help with life skills, navigating services and benefits, substance use, financial literacy, advocacy, and job search and preparation. Therapeutic services are also available, including nursing care and access to a mental health clinic staffed by a Licensed Social Worker and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner.

Ways to Give

CHS accepts several types of donations to support its food and housing programs. You can make a monetary gift through their online donation form. They also welcome collection drives for cleaning supplies, gift cards, household essentials, school supplies, hygiene products, non-perishable food items, and basic, seasonal, and professional clothing.

For furniture and household items, CHS accepts new or gently used bedroom and living room furniture, kitchen items, small appliances, and linens. All furniture donations require a coordinated drop-off. For clothing, they accept children's clothing, basic and seasonal items, plus-size clothing, shoes, accessories, and professional wear. All clothing should be washed before drop-off.

Email info@chscorp.org to arrange a donation or hosting a collection drive.
