Who Can Visit?

The Salvation Army's Purdue Center of Hope at 696 Jackson Avenue serves women and children experiencing homelessness in Memphis. Three residential programs are available: the AutoZone Single Women's Residence for women who are unaccompanied by children, Renewal Place for women facing substance abuse issues along with their children, and New Directions Family Residence for families with children who want to break cycles of crisis and poverty. Each program requires enrollment and individual case management, so meals and services are provided to accepted residents.

During declared emergencies and community disasters, the Salvation Army also deploys a mobile feeding canteen to serve meals to anyone in need in the Memphis area.

Good to Know

Residents of the shelter programs receive meals as part of their care, including breakfast and dinner each day. One review notes: "they feed us good food too." If you're interested in the residential programs, contact the relevant program director to learn about current availability and the enrollment process.

Food & Essentials

Meals are provided daily to residents of the Purdue Center of Hope's shelter programs. During disaster response, the mobile feeding canteen serves community members items like sandwiches, chips, and water. The Angel Tree program distributes gifts and support to thousands of children and seniors each Christmas season, helping families avoid eviction or utility shutoff.
