Walk-in
Brentwood Community Fridge + Pantry (ATX Free Fridge)
Who Can Visit?
The Brentwood Community Fridge and Pantry is open to everyone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There's no sign-up, no registration, and no questions asked. It's a free community resource rooted in mutual aid. The idea is simple: give what you can, take what you need.
Good to Know
The fridge is located outdoors in front of Brentwood Social House at 1601 W Koenig Ln. It's always accessible, day or night. There is no freezer at this location, so frozen food cannot be accepted. The fridges don't have cameras, and no one monitors how much you take. Signs are posted as gentle reminders that the fridges are shared community spaces.
You can reach the ATX Free Fridge Project by email at atxfreefridge@gmail.com.
Food & Essentials
The fridge and pantry are stocked with a variety of items, including fresh produce, prepared meals, canned goods, nonperishable items, fruits and veggies, bread, snacks, milk, eggs, and pantry staples. Volunteers also do weekly grocery runs to keep things stocked.
The pantry area may also have non-food items like pet supplies, hygiene products, books, socks, and diapers.
Please note: open or expired food, raw meat, frozen food, and alcohol are not accepted.
How to Pick Up
Just walk up and take what you need. No paperwork, no ID, no appointment. The fridge is outdoors and accessible around the clock.
Ways to Give
There are many ways to support the Brentwood fridge:
- Donate food: Fresh produce, prepared meals, canned goods, nonperishable items, snacks, pet supplies, hygiene products, books, socks, and diapers are all welcome. Prepared meals must be individually portioned, labeled with common allergens and dietary info, and dated.
- Donate money: Contributions go through Open Collective for full financial transparency. You can give at opencollective.com/atx-free-fridge-project. The project will never ask for Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle. If your employer uses Benevity, you may be able to get your donation matched.
- Sign up for a cleaning shift: Keeping the fridge clean is one of the easiest ways to help. Cleaning sign-ups for the Brentwood fridge are available at signup.com/go/mFbKNRu.
- Donate as a business: Businesses are welcome to contribute food directly. Proper labeling is required.
How to Join the Team?
The ATX Free Fridge Project runs entirely on community involvement. You can join a cleaning shift, stock the fridge, or connect with other volunteers through their Discord community. Community meetings are held periodically and are open to all. You can follow along on Instagram or reach out by email at atxfreefridge@gmail.com to get more involved.
