The Olivet Helping Hands Center-Food Pantry
Who Can Visit?
Everyone is welcome at The Olivet Helping Hands Center. You don't have to live in a specific zip code to receive help here. The center serves people living in Austin and surrounding areas.
Good to Know
The center runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. You can call them at 512-472-2298 or email obchelpinghands@sbcglobal.net if you have questions.
The center also hosts special events throughout the year:
- Back to School Clothing and Backpack Giveaway in August
- Harvest of Hope Coat, Sweater and Blanket Giveaway with a Community Fellowship Dinner in November
- The Princess Project in March and April, which offers prom dresses, shoes, and jewelry to 11th and 12th grade girls whose families meet poverty guidelines
Food & Essentials
Volunteers pack grocery bags of nutritional food for visitors. The center also provides new and gently-used clothing on garment racks for those in need.
Ways to Give
The center relies on the support of volunteers, neighbors, and community partners. Donations that are especially needed include:
- Gift cards for poultry, milk, and eggs
- New and gently-used clothing and shoes (all genders), undergarments, socks, and hosiery
- Toiletries
- Bedding
- Small housewares
- Bus passes
- Bibles
How to Join the Team?
The center is always looking for volunteers who can help on a regular basis. It's a great fit for people who are retired or have free mornings during the week or on weekends. To learn more about volunteering, call the church office at 512-478-7023 or the center at 512-472-2298.
