Who Can Visit?

The New Braunfels Food Bank serves individuals and families in Comal and Guadalupe counties who are struggling with food insecurity. If you're having trouble putting meals on the table for yourself or your loved ones, help is available. Appointments are required for every visit.

How to Schedule?

The easiest way to make an appointment is to visit the food bank in person at 1620 S. Seguin Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130. You can also email schedule@nbfoodbank.org or call (830) 327-6000. If you leave a voicemail, please include your full name, date of birth, and details about the appointment you're trying to schedule.

How Often Can You Visit?

The Client-Choice Pantry can be used once every four weeks, and each new appointment must be made at least 30 days after your last visit. The Drive-Through distribution is available once per month during any week when you don't already have a Client-Choice appointment. Each household needs its own appointment to participate in the Drive-Through.

Good to Know

During a client-choice visit, you can select up to 100 pounds of shelf-stable food plus an unlimited amount of fresh produce. Plan to finish your shopping within 20 minutes. Only one person per family is allowed to shop inside the pantry at a time. Shopping bags and boxes are provided, but you're encouraged to bring back your New Braunfels Food Bank reusable bags for future visits. Only trained and leashed service animals are allowed in the building. For the Drive-Through, up to three households can share one vehicle, but every household needs its own appointment.

Food & Essentials

The Client-Choice Pantry stocks a variety of shelf-stable foods with a 100-pound limit per household, plus unlimited fresh fruits and vegetables. Reviews describe a great variety of food. When supplies are available, you can also pick up pet food and household items on a first-come, first-served basis.

How to Pick Up

The Client-Choice Pantry is set up like a grocery store where you pick out your own groceries. Shopping flows in one direction through the aisles, and a volunteer helps weigh your items at checkout. The Drive-Through is a contactless option where volunteers load your vehicle with a premade box of pantry staples, fresh produce bags, and other available items. Drive-Through distribution runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM (regular hours), with summer hours shifting to 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Additional Support

The food bank can help you apply for SNAP and other government programs including Medicaid, CHIP for children, WIC, TANF, and Healthy Texas Women. The Job Readiness Program offers one-on-one coaching from job search to employment, resume building, cover letter help, mock interviews, and assistance navigating the job market. Classes are also available in computer basics, cybersecurity, financial literacy, and energy conservation. Children's programs include the Kids Café, Summer Feeding Program, and a Student Weekend Meal Pack. Seniors can access the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), a Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and home food delivery. NBU Utility Assistance provides help with utility bills and water discount programs. An on-site Farmers Market with fresh produce vendors runs on the 1st Monday of each month from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Pet food assistance is available through the DaisyCares program at partner agencies.
