Good to Know

The Beacon Center is run by Metropolitan United Methodist Church and serves the West Montgomery community. Visitors say the space is very clean and the staff is kind and helpful. If you can't carry your bags on your own, a staff member or volunteer will walk them out to your car for you.

Additional Support

The Beacon Center offers a wide range of support services alongside its food pantry. Mental health counseling is available for adults and children in grades K-12, including art and trauma support. For adults working toward a better future, the center has a literacy program, a GED and high school diploma completion program, the Pathways/Ready to Work program, ASVAB test prep, and a Learning Lab with adult computer classes and certificate programs.

Other resources include entrepreneur development, substance abuse referrals with off-site detox and treatment for drug and alcohol issues, HIV testing, STD referrals, and domestic violence resources. The center also serves as a court-mandated volunteer service location.

The Next Steps program is designed for people connected to the criminal justice system. Over six months, it connects those awaiting sentencing with holistic wrap-around services, working alongside the City of Montgomery court system, including Veterans Court.
