Who Can Visit?
Mercy House is a day center that serves people in need in Washington Park and west Montgomery, with a focus on individuals facing housing instability. Anyone who needs food, clothing, or other support is welcome to walk in during operating hours.
Good to Know
Mercy House serves around 500 meals every day. When you visit, you can eat a hot cooked lunch on-site and also receive food to take home. Breakfast and snack bags are available too.

Case workers at Mercy House can connect you to agencies in Montgomery that help with housing, employment, and healthcare. The center can also help with bills and other urgent needs. Nearby, the MAP Center for Excellence at 12 E. Delano Avenue offers GED classes and career guidance, and the Pathway House at 2437 Council Street provides counseling and adult education clinics.
Facilities
On-site, visitors have free access to showers and laundry and dryer units to clean their clothes. A clothing closet is also available with clean clothing for those who need it.
Ways to Give
You can donate online through the giving page, or mail a check to MAP/Mercy House, P.O. Box 10036, Montgomery, AL 36108. In-kind donations are welcome too, including clothing, to-go containers, plastic-wrapped utensils, gloves, masks, disinfecting cleaners, hand sanitizer, and hygiene pack materials. MAP/Mercy House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 83-1344245), so donations are tax-deductible.
How to Join the Team?
To volunteer, fill out the form at mercyhousemgm.org/volunteer. Both individuals and groups are welcome. If you have specific skills or a group ready to serve, you can mention it in the form and someone will reach out to arrange your day of service.
