East Boston Community Soup Kitchen
Who Can Visit?
The East Boston Community Soup Kitchen welcomes anyone in need. It was founded to alleviate hunger and provide vital support to marginalized individuals, and today it serves over 600 people every week.
Food & Essentials
Along with food, the kitchen gives out warm clothing and hygiene items to guests. They also run a Pet Food Pantry to help families manage the cost of caring for a pet. Guests have received hot soup at the Tuesday meal service.
How to Pick Up
The kitchen opens its doors every Tuesday. It started as a soup kitchen and has since grown into a food pantry model that provides groceries and other essentials alongside meals.
Additional Support
Beyond food, the kitchen connects guests with support for housing and addiction recovery, working to close gaps in healthcare, education, and food access in the East Boston community.
Ways to Give
Financial donations can be made at ebcsk.org/donate and are tax-deductible. The kitchen also accepts grocery items and food donations. Visit ebcsk.org/grocery-items-needed to see what's currently needed. Clothing, towels, and toiletries are welcome too, but due to storage limits, check what they need before dropping anything off. For kitchen supplies like napkins, gloves, and takeout containers, check the Amazon Wishlist.
How to Join the Team?
Volunteers are the backbone of EBCSK's work since everything the kitchen does is donation-based. You can help during Tuesday serving days with setup, food prep, serving meals, guest interaction, and cleanup. If you have a car, they also need help picking up food donations throughout the week. Fill out the volunteer application at ebcsk.org/become-a-volunteer to get started.
